Fun bar, warm people and excellent bites and small-bites, Layali is our 'home base' in downtown Providence.

We discovered Layali with our friends Bert (Roberta) and Brian. While walking down Weybosset Street on a summer evening, we stopped at a street corner because Bert wanted to take a selfie. Not being the most adept at taking a four-person selfie, Nathan, co-owner at Layali spotted us and offered to take our picture. He was funny, friendly and of course asked us why we didn't eat at Layali. We had already eaten but we promised next time. The rest is history....
An upscale, cozy spot
Custom cocktails, fresh ingredients and a multi-cultural menu, Layali is our home-base for a consistently great dining experience in Providence.
We don't know what our favorite thing about this place is. Philippe and Nathan are friendly, welcoming and they know good food. While I love a good custom cocktail, my go-to drink is a gin and tonic. The bar staff at Layali know better than to serve this drink with anything other than fresh, fizzy tonic water. They are also creative about their gin brands. From Tangueray to Gin Lane 1751 (who knew?) their 'G&T' is always perfect.
Flavorful Small Plates (and large ones too!)
From the Moroccan Spiced Chicken kabobs to the Grilled Romaine Salad, the unique menu of small bites is terrific. I love the eggplant parm appetizer so much that I usually just order that for my meal (after a few other small bites). The Filet served with the perfect sear, flavor and taste and is always cooked to perfection for Rich - who is so picky about his steak, that he has stopped ordering it from most places #pickyeaters.
If you like blueberries....
Then ask for the blueberry pizza for dessert!
OMG the blueberry pizza is ridiculous. Home-made, light, thin crust covered with mascarpone, creme fresh and who-knows-what else and topped with the freshest tastiest blueberries is so freakin yummy. The berry standard is high there - so if they are not in peak season, they won't make the dessert. No worries though - there is always Tiramisu.
